Hello Members and Visitors,
We had the Annual Member’s meeting on March 4th at the Star City Hall. The items discussed included introduction of the newest Board of Director’s member– Shaun Erleback. Shaun is the son of city councilman Tom Erleback and brings with him enthusiasm, youth and a working knowledge of our biggest event – Mule Days
We covered the 2008 financials, 2009 projected financials and budgets and how we are changing our working standards to stay within the current economic situation. There was also a call for additional help.
We are asking for your help in more ways than one. First, we want your ideas for participation. We have heard the need for more business involvement so bring your excitement to start new things to the Chamber. Do you have an idea to bring the business community together? Let’s hear it! Tell us the who’s, what’s and where’s. Who is gathering? What is the purpose? Where is the event taking place? We will take it to the Board of Directors for review and you will be off on a new adventure.
Next, we would like to start a “Welcome Home” committee. This would involve an opportunity to say welcome to the great City of Star to our newest residents and present a small basket filled with items from the local business community.
The Chamber is also looking for someone who has always wanted to be a writer – we need your love of the written word. The Chamber website needs to have the newsletter updated once a month with the current happenings so put your talents and our needs together and let’s make a beautiful team.
The Chamber is also looking for a small storage shed that someone would be willing to donate. It does have to be sturdy enough to lock but we could get away with only about 10 X 10. We need to clear out storage. We will find someone to move it if you are generous to give it.
The next meeting for Mule Days will be April 1st – No Fooling! - at 6:30pm. This is an update and planning meeting. The tentative meeting schedule is now posted on the website so print it off and keep it handy.
The Board of Directors would like to thank all the members who participated in the annual meeting and encourage the rest of our members to get involved. We are excited about the year in progress and look forward to exciting changes taking place. Hope to see you soon!
